ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sue Ingebretson has been studying health issues, and fibromyalgia in particular, for fourteen years. Committed to helping others afflicted with chronic illness, she serves as the director of program development for the Fibromyalgia Research and Education Center at California State University, Fullteron. She has collaborated in an assortment of community education projects with local support groups and the National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA) to promote education and understanding of chronic illness. She has written articles for the NFA's online and print magazine, Fribromyalgia AWARE, which offers advice, research news, treatment options, and lifestyle tips for fibromyalgia patients. She lives in Anaheim, California, with her husband and her 9 1/2 pound Sheltie, Foxy. Sue is available for speaking engagements.

He serves on the editorial board of Little Patuxent Review and the Tidal Basin Review. His work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Publications include African Voices, The Houston Literary Review, Mosaic Magazine, The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South, and The 100 Best African American Poems.

Description:	Derrick Harriell was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He holds an MFA from and is currently a dissertator in UW-Milwaukee's English Department where he also teaches Chicago State UniversityCreative Writing. A dynamic presenter of his work, Harriell has read across the country, including Chicago State's Gwendolyn Brooks Conference, Atlanta's Black Arts Festival, and Meir Festival Park's Summerfest. He's worked as assistant poetry editor for Third World Press, and is currently Poetry Editor for the Cream City Review. His poetry has been published in numerous journals and anthologies, including The Cream City Review, Reverie, and forthcoming Main Street Rag. Harriell has recently completed his first full length manuscript, Cotton.

NEW YOUNG ADULT BOOK: Zora and Me by Victoria Bond & T.R. Simon

I generally skim through the New York Times online once a day, to find out if there's anything that suits my interests in the books, arts, health, or style section. Reading through the articles in this week's book section I came across a review of a wonderful new young adult (YA) book titled Zora and Me by Victoria Bond & T.R. Simon. Can I just say my mouth dropped open when I saw the cover illustration, it's absolutely beautiful! I love all things Zora Neale Hurston and it's so timely that the authors crafted a story depicting Zora as a young detective. Can't wait to get my hands on the book to add to my collection of children's books. The authors would have been perfect for last month's A is for Anansi: Literature for Children of African Descent conference at NYU last month.
