Playwright Richard Fewell will discuss his distinguished career in the arts and the past and present of Black theatre! Fewell is the New Play Advisor for the Connecticut based Prometheus' Fire, LLC, a professional theatre-producing entity. He earned a BA & MA (Magna Cum laude) from the University of Bridgeport. Fewell is a former instructor of African-American Literature & Literature & Composition at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT and has taught literature courses at UB, and at Sacred Heart University. Two of Fewell's plays were finalists in the Theodore Ward Prize at Columbia College, Chicago, IL. He won a First Prize Article in Writer's Digest, and received three Writing Grants from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts. Fewell's play, The Voice of Bones, was produced as a Dramatic Concert Reading at the Rich Forum/Leonhardt Studio, Stamford, CT, on March 20th, 2006, developed by Prometheus' Fire & directed by Ray Aranha, director/playwright. Prometheus' Fire produced a World Premiere of this play at the Playhouse on the Green (Bridgeport, CT) in 2006. His play, Skyy Piece, received a dramatic concert reading at the Rich Forum/Leonhart Studio, developed & produced by Prometheus' Fire, directed by Ray Aranha. Skyy Piece, was also read at the National Black Theatre Festival in Winston-Salem, N C, August 5th, 2005.
